Cool Office Buildings

We all want to work somewhere nice, like being at home almost but it's work. a breathtaking view with not too many distractions. However, the need for a well designed, flashy office is a must nowadays, with the basics like electricity, internet and heat being vital. Other stuff like carpet is just a bonus, but there's always slippers or small carpet offcuts tied to the feet with twine.

Some offices are just breathtaking nowadays, with the latest designs catching the eyes of many people. quite frankly, if i worked in some of these offices in question, i wouldnt care what job i had to do, because i would be inside the building itself, appreciating it from the inside.

However, not everyone can afford to build their dream office, and instead have to look for cheap offices to rent or even shared offices to rent in order to get by.

You can just about rent out any type of office nowadays, from executive offices all the way to virtual offices and even car parking rentals

Now that....is an office i would like to own!

cool office building 1

Office_space
We all want to work somewhere nice, like being at home almost but it's work, with a quite minimalist view, not too many distractions, but nevertheless a view to keep our souls fed when we work for 'th man'. I have to say I've never been to good at working for th eman, so I prefer to work for my self. However, the need for a well designed quality office, with the basics like electricity, internet and heat are vital. Other stuff like carpet is just a bonus, but there's always slippers or small carpet offcuts tied to the feet with twine. This may not go down well at meetings when shoes woudl obviously be required.

Obviously, if you're really lucky you get an office designed by a real architect like Richard Rodgers. Then you don't care who you work for or what you're asked to do, cos you're in 'the office';

What would you rather do spend hours in a rectangular box with artificial lighting, small windows and unreliable heating, or givbe your right arm to work in a glass guerkin with advanced electronic ventilation system, which would mean you were double cool.

Charity fundraiser rule change

Chairites in the business center U.K now face a barage of rules to follow, and if any of these are breached the charity may be fined at least £1,000. offices

The rules restrict the street fundraisers from following a person for more than 3 steps, which is actually probably welcome, as sometimes, charity fundraisers can be a bit overzealous, when it comes to the aqcusition of funds.
The scheme is being introduced after a year long trial, the enforcing body will be the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA).

The new regime means that street fundraisers must not stand within 3m of a shop doorway, cashpoint, pedestrian crossing or station entrance. Which is probably a good thing again as these areas could maybe guilt trip someone into giving funds away when they had no original intention of doing so.

They are also not allowed to sign up anyone to a direct debit, who is unabe to give informed consent, ie someone who is taking drink/ drugs or disabled.

They are also unable to approach members of the public who are working.

Nigerian app market

The app market business centre in Nigeria may seem a little strange when you compare it to the market over in the western nations. Over here the norm is for a lrger amount of free apps, with in-app advertising or paid for features, this has been concluded as the best model to follow with your app. However, in Nigeria it appears that paid for apps seem to hold a lot of bouyancy over there, they have $10 apps at the top of their download charts, service office they also appear to adore the scriptures of christianity and islam, with 'Message Bible' being launched at relatively the same time as Angry Birds, in Nigeria message bible was a smash hit, reaching no.15 top grossing apps on the Iphone, in the USA however, it didn't even reach 600.
Popular Nigerian apps are expensive, costing around $10, 'QuickOffice Pro' made the top ten and it cost $15. Comparing their market to the USA's, in the USA, 9/10 top apps are free. Why is this? Is it because that most iphones bought in Nigeria are by rich people, yet in America, see more everyone seems to have one? Could it be because it may work out cheaper in the long run, ie. A Nigerian may buy a bible and scriptures for around $100, or they could buy the app for $10.

One thing which could be true, is the slim demographic in which the Nigerian app market is propped up by, it appears that it is a small few who are purchasing these apps, maybe suggesting they are affluent people willing to purchase expensive apps.

The train.

Richard Branson, boss of Virgin, which I'm sure you knew. business centre Well, Richard Branson has lost his bid to continue running the west coast mainline in the UK, it's contract will be going to FirstGroup, the small office space apparently largest rail operator here.

They have released statements suggesting that they will be "offering substantial improvements in the quality and frequency of services". rent office Which is hardly suprising, I'd be more intruiged if I heard they were downgrading the quality of the service and they were going to make sure the trains were late. Richard Branson has also said that this is 'very dissapointing news', which I hate to say, but thats kind of obvious as he had just lost a part of his business. I'd be surprised if he said he was ecstatic at the news.

Anyway, unions and rail compaigners haver argued jobs will be cut, fares will rise and catering services will be cut back. office space Well, aren't people employed if they are needed? so as such if there was any need for cuts it's because it wouldn't of been running efficiently? Therefore in turn this should reduce fares? You'd hope anyway.

FirstGroup, which is based in Aberdeen, already operate a variety of networkds including Great Western and ScotRail.

The company, under the name First West Coast Limited, will take over the franchise from 9 December and is due to to operate the service until 2026.

Dont judge a facebook by its cover.

Not too recently Facebook decided to try its hand at being a company represented on the stock market, with the public and business able to buy shares. The company was valued at a huge amount due to the size of its userbase and the selective targetting of its advertising. The problem with all this was the question of whether people actually bother to click adverts anymore. There are businesses out there who have said that they don't work, others that say they do. click here

It has come to light that swiss bank UBS has lost shares of almost 356 million dollars investing in facebook. Facebook was valued at 104 billion dollars earlier this year, shares are not at a 39% low from this point. UBS is now looking at ways to save money, which may mean cutting around 3,500 jobs.

In some people's views they say if you are purchasing this stock to sell off tomorrow or next week then you will be dissapointed, it is far better to wait to be rewarded, to wait around a year.

For something made in a dormroom, you have to admit that it has achieved far beyond what most dormroom projects probably do. Making Mark Zuckerberg the youngest billionaire ever.

When Amazon went public, it was but a mere bookstore. Many people said that it was going to go dot com bust. When, nowadays it is the retailer for the world. worth $200 a share, while it started at $2.

Unlimited Holiday.

Theres something amazing happening in some areas of the world, namely silicon valley.  It has become apparent that some employees hard work is being rewarded with the oppurtunity to manage their own schedules, companies from netflix to best buy or rewarding their workers in this way. Even with the economy in the state it is, this is still apparently viable. I wonder how the work-rate will change?

I don't mean to make it sound like they're just on holiday all the time. It's merely that a tally isn't kept of when they aren't in the office. As long as they complete their work then all is well. Maybe they should look for office accommodation telford.

They still have to make sure their co-workers are completing their work too! But I think I'd be able to complete work and make sure my co-workers were working if I was on a beach in mexico.

Are we going to move into a new era? where people are so connected and technology is so advanced that it is easier and more economically sound to work seperate from a specific location? I sure hope so. I can only imagine it being rather good. Click here

Dixons

Dixonsretail

The shares for Dixons have risen 7.4%, which has shocked them as it is better than they expected. They own currys and PC world so if any losses were made it would of been pretty bad.

They said underlying pre-tax profts fell 17%. Making £70.8m, this beats what they expected. It's sales however were up by 5%, meaning they have a reasonably strong position for the next year. Their net debt has almost halved to 104m.

Electrical retail outlets are being outdone by online retailers as the online retailers have better margins. Usually being cheaper, people are more favourable to buying online.

Dixons have released a statment recently suggesting that they are making good progress in the UK and in Ireland, but unfortunatly they seem to be doing not as well in Southern Europe. they have said that they have been helped by the digital switchover, which has forced people to buy any tech that allows them to view digital TV. Considering the state of the economy and the lack of consumer confidence, they have done excellently and may proceed to do so.

Sellfy

One click commerce Latvian site sellfy, has been stiring up interest from two of skypes alumni, Tovio Annus co founder and technical lead of the chat phenomona and head of the Estonian side of things Sten Tamkivi.

Sellfy allows users to create simple short URL's for distrubuting content they have created. This allows them to sell their wares relativiley easily, and with whichever audience the user wished to market to.

Sellfy only takes a 5% commission fee from each sale, they also offer a affiliate scheme designed to turn fans into marketeers. "Why pay 30%, 50% or even 75% to publishers or marketplaces if you already have your own community to speak to?" - co-founder, CEO, Maris Dagis. "The sellfy system allows the merchant to offer discounts in return for a facebook share or a twitter tweet. Which is pretty great, makes everybody a winner. We have been doing well these few months since our launch in mid-November, and it has received lots of traction, I think this demonstyrates that such a platform makes it very easy to start earning from stuff that people create."

Facepalmbook

Thousands of beginner investors and hopeful enthusiasts purchased shares in facebook, being told it was the "opportunity of a lifetime". They got their hopes more then they probably ever did, seeing the rise of facebook over such a short amount of time probably had that effect, they probably thought their money would be doubled in no time at all.

What happened though, is almost funny. They got left with heavy losses, totally predictable losses. The reason it happened was because of the hype, because they overpaid for the shares, because so many bought them. It's the same thing that happened with the dot com bubble and the housing market.

Investors complaints weren't far away, they tried to sue, there's going to be a SEC investigation.

Some of the complaints are quite legitimate, bankers apparently witheld information from the public, which is an offence.

But what is truely wrong is that these people were clearly just short tem speculators, like really short term. They were hoping for a quick buck, able to buy and sell a couple of days later, so in a way it serves them r ight for being greedy, when they are being greedy, it's the time to be careful

Business Returns

Under the sales of goods act 1979, a consumer is entitled to a refund or a replacement if the product they bought is faulty or is not as described. They can also obtain a refund if the seller had no legal right to sell the product to them.

So what can you put in your returns policy?

Drafting a returns policy can be difficult, it is said that the best returns policy is no returns policy, unless your business requires more then what the law says. You can impose your own conditions

- Producing a reciept is a necessity
- Exchange a credit note instead of a refund
- a due date for returns
- Goods must be unused or unopened

Consumers legal rights cannot be restricted in any way, it is a criminal offence to mislead a consumer about what their legal rights are. Examples;

- 'no refunds given' (Refunds are a right for the consumer.)
- sold as seen
- only credit notes will be given against returned faulty items. (If the product is faulty they have a choice on how to be refunded.)

You can give consumers more rights then they currently have if you wish, make sure these are visible to them so they understand.

Any information here should be used as a guide and not as gospel.
